About

Les Jeunes Amies, or “The Young Friends,” is a Junior Women’s Civic Club that was organized in 1958 in New Iberia, Louisiana. Having recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, Les Jeunes Amies continues in its objective of promoting cultural and civic activities in the community while keeping the needs of women and children close to our hearts.

Each fall, the club selects projects and activities for the year which will support and enhance the club’s objective. Monthly meetings are scheduled from September through April. For the members’ enjoyment and fellowship, socials are scheduled in December and April, as decided up by the members.

Les Jeunes Amies’ projects include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Wake Up With Santa, fundraising Christmas event for children (December)
  • Art Show showcasing the work of Iberia Parish students (March/April)
  • Dinner and the Arts, fundraising meal plus IPAL performance (Spring)
  • Helping two local organizations: the Safety Net for Abused Persons (SNAP) and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New Iberia
  • Assisting the community when necessary

Membership in the club is by invitation and requires payment of annual dues, attendance at meetings, committee membership, and participation in club events.
